How to create “App” Webpage shortcuts on an iPad

This page will demonstrate how to bookmark pages, add a shortcut to the iPad, and group the shortcuts in one convenient group on the screen.

These three pages will be used for this tutorial:
1. Regis Jesuit Library Main Page
2. Regis Jesuit Library Research Guide Tiles
3. OED (Oxford English Dictionary) and saving with password.


USE THE SAFARI BROWSER
FOR ALL OF THESE STEPS


1. Create a screen shortcut to the Library Main Page

Step 1: Open the RJ Library Main Page if not already open.

Step 2: Select “Add to Home Screen” on the pull down menu.

Step 3:
FIRST: Rename the shortcut name.
Short names like RJHS Library or Library are best.
SECOND: Click the “Add” button to add the shortcut to the iPad screen.



2. Create a screen shortcut to the Library Research Tiles (Topics) page.

Note, this page uses the same steps as the Library page above.

Step 1: Open the Library Research Tiles (Topics) page by clicking on the Blue “CLICK HERE” button

OR Open directly by clicking the Resource Tiles HERE.

Step 2: Click on the share button.

Step 3: Click on the “Add to Home Screen.”

Step 4:
FIRST: Rename the shortcut name.
Short names like RJHS Research Guides or Research Guides are best.
SECOND: Click the “Add” button to add the shortcut to the iPad screen.



3. Create a screen shortcut to the OED Oxford English Dictionary website.

This next section has an added step. You need to open the site with the Regis SCHOOL identifier before it is saved as a shortcut.

Step 1: Open the OED.com website.

Step 2: Click on the “Sign in” button.

Step 3: Use the School Authentication This is NOT your student authentication. See the school Username and Password HERE.

Step 4: After you’ve saved the username and password, select the share button.

Step 5: Select the “Add to Home Screen” in the drop down menu.

Step 6:
FIRST: Rename the shortcut name.
Short names like Dictionary or OED are best.
SECOND: Click the “Add” button to add the shortcut to the iPad screen.
